- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Ten Years After - D-Day. DESCRIPTION: Ten years ago, front-line action pictures told the story of the beginning of the liberation of Europe. On the anniversary of the onslaught on Hitler’s Europe, Guards of Honour stood on the Normandy beaches where President Coty led France’s tribute to those who gave their lives. On one of the beaches a special memorial pays tribute to American sacrifice in the Cause of Freedom. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Shots of troops along beaches. Landing craft nearing shore. Troops past camera up beaches. Beach fighting. Explosions etc. Fade. American troops holding service on the beaches. British Royal Marines, French troops. Guard of Honour. President Coty with officers. Cut ins of British officers. CU Memorial to the Allied troops lost in the Normandy Landings. President Coty makes speech, ‘The British Isles stood alone against the German war machine, etc.' At American cemetery and the US war memorial US troops pay homage. American troops march. General Gruenther takes salute. Sir Gladwyn Jebb also attends.
