Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Queen in Wellington. DESCRIPTION: The Queen and the Duke received a great ovation when they arrived at Wellington. One royal engagement was an Investiture, the Queen bestowed a Knighthood on Sir Harold Barrowclough, Chief Justice of New Zealand. It was earlier in the day that Her Majesty drove with His Royal Highness to open Parliament. Inside Parliament House, Her Majesty received her address from the hand of Mr Holland, the Premier, and proceeded to deliver her speech from the throne. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Artists impression of Sydney Bridge, flags, kangaroo etc. LS elevated GV Wellington. Car bearing Royal Couple down street through crowds. SCU Queen & Duke mix to interior of Town Hall. Queen bestows knighthood on Sir Harold Barrowclough. Chief Justice of New Zealand. Elevated view of crowds assembled outside Parliament House. Queen & Duke up steps to Houses of Parliament. Wipe, interior Queen & Duke walk to take their seats. Queen sits then invites assembly pray be seated. Her Majesty then receives her address from hand of Mr Holland. Cut-ins Ministers etc. Queen then reads her speech (extracts only). Cut-ins of assembly. Queen then makes her progress from the chamber handing her speech to Sir Matthew Oram, Speaker of the House. Queen and Duke stand on top of steps of Parliament.
