Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal River Pageant. DESCRIPTION: The Lord Mayor of London, Sir Rupert de la Bere, who figured prominently in the great River Pageant, went afloat at Greenwich. This was the starting point of the unique event and, all along London River - from Greenwich to Westminster - a big audience was strung out, ships were dressed and keen anticipation prevailed. At the Royal Festival Hall Pier, the Queen arrived with the Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by Mr Lennox-Boyd, Minister of Transport, to take the salute as some two hundred craft went by in a three-mile long procession. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV river with craft. Lord Mayor of London, de la Bere boards launch at Greenwich. Setting off up river. Cut-ins of crowds on banks, also passing through dockland. Rain beating down on crowds. Shot at Tower of London. Crowds on Waterloo Bridge. MS Greenwich Pier. Various shots of the procession on the river, all craft gaily decorated. Queen arrives at Festival Hall Pier, accompanied by Mr Lennox-Boyd. Duke wears undress uniform of Trinity House. Mayors of Thames boroughs pass in craft, cheering Queen & Duke. Various shots of procession passing Queen & Duke. Cut-ins of Q & D waving. Elevated GV of procession coming up river, shot looking down river. Also ditto looking up towards Houses of Parliament, both very good.
