- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Russian Tanks in Berlin Riots. DESCRIPTION: Great force was brought to bear on the rioters in East Berlin where Russian troops and tanks were used to put down the uprising. The scene of the aftermath - deserted streets, where, a few hours before, tens of thousands of workers had stormed through the City. SUB: MUNICH DEMONSTRATION QUELLED. From Munich - quite a different story, though here, too, rioters filled the picture. This was a Communist-inspired outbreak, based on the fact that two large shops remained open on Saturday afternoon - this riot was ended by cold water jets used by the Police. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV deserted streets. Crowds demonstrate in streets. Burn Red flag. Police centre on fire. Troops (Russian) & tanks enter streets. Crowds dispersing slowly. Crowds rush towards Western sector. . Above is in East Berlin. Following in Munich - Crowds demonstrate in streets about Saturday closing of shops. Police bring out water wagon & start spraying water over the demonstrators. Various shots of the above. Police use truncheons freely. Crowds scatter as water comes in their direction.
