Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Ike in Korea. DESCRIPTION: Although Seoul, the South Korean capital, prepared a great welcome for General Eisenhower, he did not appear for security reasons. With his staff, Ike went up to the front, where he was greeted by General Mark Clark, United Nations Supreme Commander in the Far East. General Eisenhower also met Syngman Rhee, the South Korean President and later met Major-General West, Commanding the British Commonwealth Division. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. CU Korean type. Elevated shots of Seoul crowded with demonstrating people. Syngman Rhee SCU addresses crowds (silent). At the airfield, Ike steps out of monoplane. Greeted by General Mark Clark. Meets his son Major John Eisenhower. Chats to Syngman Rhee. Ike inspects Guard of Honour of Korean troops. British troops inspected. Major General West accompanies Ike. Watching from a long distance artillery fire, demonstration given by ROKS (Republic of Korea Soldiers). Aerial shots of firing over front line. Showing rough country, van Fleet also watching. Marchpast of representatives of 15 Nations, Ike takes salute. British troops march past.
