Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Lynmouth Aftermath. Mayor of Barnstaple Appeal. DESCRIPTION: An early visitor to the stricken neighbourhood of Lynmouth, was the Minister of Housing and Local Government, Mr Macmillan, who spoke of his early impressions. To make sure that everything possible was being done, Field Marshal Sir William Slim, flew in by helicopter. SHOTLIST: LS into Lynmouth. Police barrier up to prevent spectators. Various shots of Mr Macmillan touring devastated area. Climbing out of ruined window etc. Corpse washed up onto beach carried by on stretcher. Mr Macmillan speaks. View of house perched on edge of stream. Halves of houses etc. Clothes in Town Hall sent from all over country. People fetch water from water wagon. Clearing Channel of West Lynn. Field Marshal Slim flies in by helicopter. Inspects. Speaks.
