MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Comet - London to Johannesburg. DESCRIPTION: A Cameraman accompanied the Comet, when it set out on a flight to Johannesburg. This was a trip to illustrate and to herald the world’s first regular jet-liner service. It’s the beginning of a new era in air travel. In effect, the size of the world has been halved by the Comet. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. CU jet engine of Comet. GV London Airport, shows sign reading same. MS Comet. Snow being cleared from runway. Comet starts to taxi. Taken from inside plane, shots of runway shooting away from underneath you. Airborne. Air to air shots of Comet. Comet flying above the clouds. Aerial of Alps. Inside plane, officers study maps - route. Aerial of island of Corsica. Aerial of Italian countryside. Comet above the clouds. Stewardess serves meal - breakfast. Passing stands coins etc. on end. Flying over jungle. GV Entebbe Airport. Comet being refuelled etc., in pouring rain. Aerial of Victoria Falls, ground shots of same, very good. At Livingstone Airport. More aerials en route.
