MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: South Africa’s Political Crisis. DESCRIPTION: The Torch Commando HQ in Johannesburg were kept very busy organising the nation-wide protest against South Africa’s Government. Group Captain Sailor Malan (war-time ace fighter-pilot) was President of the Commando. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV interior meeting. Inside HQ., meeting - seated round table. Sailor Malan at head of table. CU Malan. People carry our slogans & posters to van. Plane flies overhead dropping leaflets. Leaflets being stuck on cars, etc. Various shots of daylight open air meeting. Mix to night - torchlight procession through streets. Meeting at night. CU Sailor Malan addressing (silent) meeting. Crowds applaud, etc.
