MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Boxing - Great Britain V USA. DESCRIPTION: At the Empire Pool, Wembley, America won, for the first time since the war, when they beat Great Britain by six bouts to four in the Amateur Boxing Tournament. Aboard the Queen Mary at New York, Randolph Turpin was bombarded with questions about the prospect of beating Sugar Ray again. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV Britons & Americans in ring. MS of them shaking hands with one another. GV Nichols (GB) & Dejesus (USA) boxing. Nichols boxing southpaw style. Referee announces Nichols the winner. Smith (GB) boxing against Boutillier (USA), Smith floored, rises, & is floored again. Fight stopped by referee. Budge out on canvas, knock out by Hackney (USA). Nelson (USA) almost out hanging (sitting) on ropes, KO by Howard (GB). Lay (GB) boxing Sandy (USA) various shots. Lay knocked down. Randolph Sandy & Lay in dressing gowns after fight. New York - Aboard Queen Mary, several shots Turpin surrounded by pressmen. MS cameramen & press. CU Turpin answering questions about the forthcoming fight with Sugar Ray Robinson. Reporter wishes Robinson good luck then corrects himself I mean Randy.
