Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Danish Royal Visitors’ Engagements. DESCRIPTION: From Windsor Castle, where King Frederick had been invested with the Order of the Garter, he walked in procession on his way to be installed as a Knight Companion. The King was there with other members of the Royal Family. The King and Queen of Denmark also visited the Guildhall as guests of the City Corporation where a warm-hearted reception was followed by luncheon in the Great Hall. That afternoon, the Royal visitors went to the South Bank Exhibition where they made a tour of the site. In the evening - a Government Reception at Lancaster House, where the Foreign Secretary did the honours. Their Majesties arrived with their Royal Danish guests and other members of the Royal Family were present. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. CU Danish Coat of Arms. Windsor - Elevated GV procession from Windsor Castle to St George’s Chapel. Several shots of procession. Lord Mountbatten in procession, Duke & Princess Elizabeth. Duke of Gloucester, with King of Denmark. Elevated MS our King & Queen. King & Queen on steps of St George’s Chapel. King Frederick & Queen Ingrid leave St George’s Chapel. Guildhall, London - King & Queen of Denmark arrive in open landau at the above. Received by the Lord Mayor & Princess Elizabeth, also Lady Mayoress. The latter hands Queen Ingrid a bouquet of lilies. Interior - procession passes through Common Councillors & Aldermen. Take their seats. Recorder about to address. CU of the address - two shots. Lord Mayor hands casket to King Frederick containing address. CU ditto. King Frederick replies, refers to London & its history. Procession starts to leave the Library for Great Hall. In procession are Princess Elizabeth, Duke of Edinburgh, Mr & Mrs Attlee. South Bank Festival - Various shots of King & Queen of Denmark walking round the exhibitions, consists mainly of close-ups of them, not definitely looking at anything particular. Lancaster House - Diplomatic Corps, & other distinguished guests arrive, received by Mr Morrison. Mr & Mrs Attlee arrive, again received by Morrison. Queen Elizabeth & Queen Ingrid precede King George & King Frederick, followed by Princess Elizabeth & Duke of Edinburgh and Duchess of Kent. Several shots of the above informal shots, SCU Princess Elizabeth. SCU Princess Margaret. All wearing evening dress, & large quantities of jewellery. MS of the above standing around, Morrison mingles.
