MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Critical Days. DESCRIPTION: In the Security Council Chamber at Lake Success, the delegate of the Republic of South Korea had a question to ask about the Chinese. The British point of view was given by Sir Gladwyn Jebb. America’s Secretary of State, Mr Acheson, made a special film talk on the subject of Red Chinese intervention. In London, a visit was paid to Mr Attlee by the French Premier, Monsieur Pleven and Monsieur Schuman (Foreign Minister). Also in Britain was Sir David Kelly, British Ambassador to Russia, recently returned from Moscow. When Mr Attlee left for Washington, he had a big send-off at London Airport, he was flying over with a party of seventeen military and official advisers. SHOTLIST: KS. CU of UNO emblem. MS Security Council seated & Mr Wu taking his seat. SCU sitting down. MS South Korean delegate (Mr Ben Limb?) takes seat. SCU - SV of him ‘pointing an accusing finger’ at Wu & asking him "why he comes to sit there with blood of UN troops on his hands". MS of sitting. MS Sir Gladwyn Jebb speaking on British point. SCU of Acheson saying "Nobody can say if there is a war coming or not". FADE OUT TO LONDON. MS policeman outside No 10 Downing Street & pan to MS of the door. Crowds. SCU Pleven alights from car. MS Pleven & Schuman pausing just before entering No 10, enter out of camera. Several shots including close-up of Sir David Kelly (interior) at Northolt. Night material - Attlee with his wife walks across tarmac amid crowds to Stratocruiser. Attlee faces camera & says "it is five years since I saw Mr Truman" etc. etc. Attlee with his wife are surrounded with photographers & reporters. Attlee & wife enter plane. Slim walks up gangway to plane. Bevin walks up stops half way to turn & face camera. Attlee waves, shakes hands twice with Bevin. Cut-in Mrs Attlee waving. Door being closed of Stratocruiser.
