Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Yugoslavia & England Draw. DESCRIPTION: In the International soccer match at Highbury between England and Yugoslavia, the large crowd were treated to some vigorous attacking movements by England. Two goals by Lofthouse put England in a strong position, but a slip by Compton gave Yugoslavia their first goal to be followed in the later stages of the game by the equaliser - a gift goal scored by Zivanovic. SHOTLIST: KS. Crowd shot - GV. Two captains Ramsey & Mitic shake hands. Toss-up, Ramsey throws it (coin) into air referee catches same in hand, Mitic calls. GV kick-off. England attack, several dangerous moments. Free-kick - Medley hits goalpost with ball. Lofthouse heads ball into net (2nd goal). General play. Cut-in cheering crowds. Yugoslavs attack & score the ball coming off Leslie Compton. Elevated MS Williams tries to console Compton. Crowds. Second half. Various shots of Yugoslavia’s goalie, Beara, making many good saves, jumping in all directions. Various shots of play. Yugoslavia having scored, Williams throws something on ground disgusted as he picks up the ball.
