- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Ayr Pit Disaster. DESCRIPTION: A subsidence on the surface meant men were trapped below ground. Rescuers worked hard to get to the miners, whilst anxious relatives waited at the pithead. SHOTLIST: KS. Interior - miners pass along tunnel in coal mine. Elevated GV crowds outside pithead. Aerial showing subsidence of ground. Conveyor carries trees, trunk etc. for stopping subsidence. Rescue workers pass camera. Truckload going below ground. Rescuers below ground, pass along tunnels & hacking their way to entombed men. Rescuers & some of the trapped men coming out of the mine aboard a truck.
