Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: International Rugger Surprise (Wales Beat England - 11-5). DESCRIPTION: At Twickenham, Wales beat England by eleven points to five. England scored first through Smith but Wales fought back to win, it was their first victory over England at Twickenham since 1933. SHOTLIST: KS. Welsh team out into camera. Crowds singing Welsh Anthem. Large leek in centre of field. Wales (GV) kick-off. General play. Wales surging forward when intercepted by John Smith, who runs 40 yards to make a touch down. GV Hofmeyr converts from side of field. Crowds cheering. General play. Wales attacking & Lewis Jones passes to Cliff Davies who scores a try. Minor injury attended to. Lewis Jones scores a penalty. Wales attack hard & score try through Cale. Jones converts. Crowds going mad. Botting for England rushes over & ‘scores’, (referee having blown whistle through infringement). Hofmeyr misses penalty. Crowds flock on field after Wales had won, first time since 1933.
