- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: England Lucky to Beat Italy. DESCRIPTION: There were nearly 72,000 people at Tottenham for the England - Italy International football match. The two teams were presented to the Earl of Athlone. From the start it was obvious that Italy were fielding a strong team and for the greater part of the game they outplayed England, however, England scored twice in the last fifteen minutes through Rowley and Billy Wright. SHOTLIST: KS. SCU teams coming out. Crowds. Supporters of each side. Earl of Athlone presented to Italian & England teams. Captains exchange courtesies. Italy win toss. Billy Wright (England Captain). Carapellese (Italian Captain). England kick-off. Stan Mortensen sends in low drive, Moro in goal saves. Moro in action, plenty of shots. Italy attack hard. Italy passing the ball very well. Italian team unable to get past Bert Williams. Police hold crowds back. Half-time. Teams on pitch, game stopped over rules of game. Light failing, Rowley scores for England. Moro again defeated by Wright, Moro just lays on ground.
