Summary
Control of the Channel reverts to Britain - RAF Beaufighters and Mosquitos bomb enemy ships, and attack Nazi military installations in Holland. Calais is reduced to smoking ruins, and Nazis are captured. Brest (German U-boat centre, and chief target of RAF) surrenders. 35,000 German prisoners taken. The "12,000 lb earthquake of 1944" bombs Nazis out of their concrete stronghold, where troops and arms were stored.
