- Summary
- The Battle of Normandy. Allied troops cross Channel. The use of steel runways for the landings. German prisoners. Shots of Rommel inspecting Atlantic wall. Allies wreck German beach defences and march into Normandy countryside. Airstrips constructed. Generals of the High Command, Eisenhower and Marshall visit scene of operations. Fighter planes and bombers raid enemy ammunition dumps and communications south of the peninsular. Montgomery uses airborne Commandos to seize Caen. Bayeux captured. French people addressed by a Free French officer on their liberation from Germans. Churchill and Field Marshal Smuts arrive on the scene and are greeted by Montgomery. The Prime Minister returns to England on the man-o-war "Kelvin", accompanied by Field Marshal Alan Brooke.
