Summary
Royal Navy lays down barrage on Arakan beaches. Ahead of the infantry go the big bombers, blasting Japanese communications. The wounded are put into hospital ships. The main beach-head is established. Tanks and vehicles, stores and guns pour ashore. Alligator craft spearhead attack. Amphibious vehicles crawl ahead of infantry. Fourteenth Army goes into action. The road to the capital lies open as Japanese scatter. Bailey bridges are erected for river crossings. Allied shock troops begin descent by parachute towards Rangoon battlefields.
