- Summary
- US First Airborne Army carries equipment to the east bank of the Rhine at Wesel. Tug men and glider crews are briefed. Gigantic landing craft used. Churchill, with Eisenhower, Montgomery and Alan Brooke, sees troops disembark. Areas behind the German front are attacked by RAF bombers. Bomber Command makes a night attack on Wurzburg in Bavaria upon a rail junction between Frankfurt and Nuremberg. Night bombing of Bamberg in Bavaria. Troops of the 21st Army Group, Montgomery’s men, cross the river. Rocket firing typhoons blast various "nuisance points" along the way. Churchill himself crosses the Rhine and inspects the scene. Dakota troop-carrying aircraft; mass landings of paratroopers. A damaged Dakota makes a crash landing. A 250 mile glider train crosses the river. Tow ropes are cast off, and gliders land. Final shot of Churchill and Montgomery.
