Summary
Sydney: a tribute to Damian Parer a cameraman who lost his life in the Pacific War during the fighing at Pelelieu, examples of some of the material shot by him: the War in Libya, Crete, the Siege of Tobruk, the assault on Salamaua (?) [sic], the Battle of the Bismarck Sea. US NATIONAL ARCHIVE ENTRY: 8 min, sd, B&W, 35mm A wreath is placed on photographer Damian Parer’s tomb in Sydney. Flashbacks show footage taken by Parer: British tanks and infantry advancing in Libya; British mortars firing on Crete; troops advancing near Salamaua, New Guinea; a soldier helping a blinded comrade; a Japanese ship in the Bismarck Sea and US troops landing on Pelelieu.
