- Summary
- November 1944. Operations on the Albanian coast. Landing craft approach and stores and ammunition are unloaded. The first British ship arrives at Corfu. Partisans and civilians of the town welcome British troops. Aegean Island of Khios is liberated. At Corinth British and Greek troops receive a joyful reception from the people. At Thessaloniki they are similarly welcomed. Girl guerillas parade through the streets of the town. The Greek Prime Minister, Mr Papandreou, arrives at the port of Pireaus and inspects British and Greek troops. In Athens cheering, happy crowds await the Prime Minister. With General RM Scobie, head of the Allied Mediterranean Command, Mr Papandreou lays a wreath at the tomb of the unknown warrior. Allied ships arrive at the port of Athens with food for the Greeks. Papandreou watches the unloading. A procession winds its way up to the Parthenon and the Prime Minister hoists Greek flag.
