- Retreating Nazis. American liberation of Rennes. Vichy collaborators arrested; crowd becomes vindictive; one fifth columnist had to be protected from the crowd. The French people cheer US soldiers. Heavy bombers blast retreating German columns. The British and Canadians beyond Caen, heading for the Falaise Gap. Shots of the war materials destroyed and left behind by Germans (Seventh Army). The superior weight of Allied armour, which is inspected by the visiting Russian Military Mission. The Rumanian Front: the forcing of the River Pruth by the Red Army and entry into Rumania.
