Summary
A Chinese steward, Poon Lin, who survived for 133 days in the South Pacific on a raft, receives the British Empire Medal at Buckingham Palace. A US Sergeant is awarded the DFC. Three members of the ATS (New Zealanders) receive British Empire Medals.
