Summary
US National Archive entry: 14 min, sd, B&W, 35 mm On the collapse of Axis forces in Tunisia. Reel 1. General Montgomery reviews Australian and New Zealand troops. Tanks and infantry move through swirling sand. Bombs explode on an Axis position. Allied tanks and artillery fire at night. British infantry advances; British armour enters Sened. US tanks advance to Maknussy. US and British officers confer. Columns of German POWs are marched to the rear. Allied tanks and troops pass abandoned equipment. A British fleet shells the coast. Supplies are unloaded onto a dock as British anti-aircraft repels German planes. General Montgomery and Free French officers are cheered by Moslems in Tunis. Reel 2 Allied tanks and infantry advance; retreated German forces are strafed from the air. German and Italian troops surrender and are marched to the rear. Allied armour is cheered as it enters Tunis. General de Gaulle observes Free French troops raising the Tricolor over Bizerte. Captured German general officers are led away. Allied forces, including Free French colonial cavalry and Scotch bagpipers, parade victoriously through Tunis.
