- Summary
- British destroyers enter Courier Bay on expedition to Madagascar, the main objective being Diego Suarez. Landing craft go ashore and destroyers open fire on the mainland. The British capture Diego Suarez and meet the local people. Senior officers discuss terms to be accorded to Vichy. Commander of the Vichy Forces, Colonel Claerbout, comes aboard the flagship. Later, outside Vichy headquarters in Antsirana, Admiral Syfret inspects guard of honour before attending the treaty conference. Allied reinforcements and weapons arrive by plane, lorry and train. British, South Africans and American cooperate. Bombers in action in the desert - striking at the enemy’s supply convoys.
