- Summary
- SHOTLIST: Map of China and Indian and Pacific Oceans; CU isles round Singapore. Japanese gains in French Indo China (from Vichy). Harbour scenes in "thriving cosmopolitan city" of Singapore. Food and ammunition from Australia, India and the US pour in and are unloaded at Singapore. "Buffalo fighters", to reinforce Britain’s air strength, are unpacked by coolies on Malayan waterfront. Cargo vessels return to the US laden with rubber and tin. Metal is mined by Chinese women in Kuala Lumpur. The Allied troops, including Australian troops operating in the Malayan jungle, engaged in the defence of Singapore. Shots of the Sakais - nomad tribe of aboriginal race - in Malaya, demonstrating their skill with the blowpipe. Troops distribute salt to the Sakais. Aircraft range the Malayan skies. Imperial troops undergo strenuous training.
