Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Mr George Gibson Resigns. DESCRIPTION: Movietone exclusively interviews Mr Gibson on his resignation. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS Mr Gibson in his garden walks towards camera. MS & SCU Gibson who says The Lynskey Tribunal has made its report & I as a public servant have accepted the consequences, the personal consequences. I can now as a private citizen say what I think about it. I consider the whole proceedings to have been ghastly improper & a travesty of what is known of British Law & British Justice. Had I been permitted to produce witnesses I could have torn to shreds the allegations made against me but although the costs have involved me in an expenditure of approaching £2,000 I was not permitted & could not call witnesses for my defence. I think, therefore, that everybody will appreciate what I mean when I say the proceedings are a complete travesty of all cannons of British Law. The licence given to (coughs inaudible) are assured by the Attorney General & the fact that a person involved could not call witnesses made an adequate defence impossible for myself. I would welcome a further investigation in a court of law & I am prepared to accept all the consequences involved.
