- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Olympic Thrills. DESCRIPTION: The Marathon was won by Cabrora of Argentina with Richards of Great Britain coming in second. There was disappointment for Jamaica in the 1600 metres relay when Wint pulled a muscle. In the 400 metres relay America were disqualified foe a late baton change and then re-instated after judges looked at photographs. The rowing events are underway at Henley and the Cycling at Herne Hill. SHOTLIST: KS GV Wembley Stadium. GV crowds (x2). GV crowd applauding. Starts of marathon race, running on spot waiting for start. GV start. Pan around stadium. Runners out of stadium. Runners into camera with stadium in background. Tracking shots of the following running: Gailly (Belgium), Richards (GB). Cabrora (Argentina), Singh (India). Gailly towards camera approaches stadium, preceded by mounted police & mobile police. Inside stadium, Gailly nearly all in, starts run round arena, but stops exhausted, starts to run again very slowly. Cabrora passes Gailly. CU crowd watching. Cabrora winning race, into camera, smiling. Richards (GB) coming in second. Cabrora embraced. Elevated start of 1600 metres relay, Wint (JAM) running, pulls a muscle & runs into centre of track, on ground hitting it with his fist. Finish of race Whitfield (USA) wins. Wint very distressed. Start of 400 metres relay, panning first baton change (USA disqualified for this change) continue to pan to 2nd baton change. Mel Patton running home & winning. Americans looking at photos showing how they were disqualified. Great Britain given win, shown on indicator. Great Britain on dais. Henley - GV River Thames. Wilson & Laurie (GB) win Coxless Pairs. SCU of them in boat. CU crowd. Elevated into camera shot of Bushnell & Burnell (GB) winning Double Sculls. Herne Hill - Cyclists round track slowly. SCU woman watching race, her reactions. Start of race between Great Britain & Italy. Harris (GB). Both ride slowly at first, then suddenly start to sprint. The Italian wins. SCU Harris mounts dais & shakes Italian’s hand. In background Italian flag being raised.
