MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: D-Day Ceremonies and Auriol With the Fleet. DESCRIPTION: President Auriol of France recently conferred the Legion of Honour and the Croix de Guerre on the city of Brest. The President also inspected a number of warships which were lying in the harbour. President Auriol has also visited Caen and Arromanches as part of his tour of Normandy. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS GV Brest. President Auriol walks through street of cheering people. Cut-in cheering crowds. Auriol confers honours on City of Brest. Cut-in awards on cushion being held up for everyone to see. GV marchpast of French sailors. Auriol aboard naval launch, with fleet in background. Several shots of Auriol passing between ships of French navy. Launch passing carrier. MS Richelieu guns. CU Richelieu’s big guns pointing forward. (45 seconds). CAEN - GV ruins of Caen. Several shots elevated of ruins shows cathedral badly damaged & ruined houses all round. Auriol in open car drives through town of Caen. Elevated ruins of Caen. Woman hanging out washing with ruined cathedral in background. ARROMANCHES - GV of the beaches. SCU name Port Winston. GV same. Auriol walks towards camera accompanied by Admiral Dunbar-Nasmith.
