MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Australians Are Here. DESCRIPTION: Exclusive pictures of the Australian Test Team onboard the liner Strathaird during their journey to England. A large crowd turned out at Southampton to welcome them and Don Bradman made a short speech to the waiting press. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS MS SS Strathaird pulling away from quay at Freemantle, Australia. Various shots aboard Strathaird. SCU Lindsay Hassett aboard ship. Several shots of deck tennis being played by Sam Loxton, Neil Harvey, Ray Lindwall and Bill Johnston. CU Douglas Ring asleep. Shots of Don Bradman playing quoits. GV cricketers, Loxton, Harvey and Ernest Toshack bowling in nets. SCU Lindwall loosening up his muscles. GV cricket match aboard ship. Cut-in CU Keith Johnson (Manager). Bill O’Reilly bowls to Lindwall, Ian Johnson behind stumps. SCU Fingleton fielding. SCU Commander Allen and Bradman change hats. MS on deck shows some of team looking at Isle of Wight seen in background. CU Colin McCool in overcoat feeling rather cold. SCU Bradman saying We are very glad indeed, in fact I cannot tell you how delighted we are to be back in England once again. Also says Let’s get ashore and get on with the job.
