- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: UN Veto Question. DESCRIPTION: When the Greek question was debated in the Security Council a Russian veto prevented it being taken to the General Assembly. The next Secretary of State Marshall called for action on the Greek situation and the veto. SHOTLIST: GV Security Council sitting, USSR Gromyko as President. Pans of delegates, includes Gromyko, Sir Alexander Cadogan, Hershal Johnson, shots of Gromyko asking delegates to raise hands for and against Greece being debated. Gromyko announces that a permanent delegate has vetoed the action, therefore same cannot be debated, at the side of Gromyko is Trygve Lie who is laughing. At Flushing, New York GV of the General Assembly, General George Marshall walks onto rostrum, addresses delegates on the Marshall Plan. CU Marshall speaking. Speaks on the Greek question, also speaks about the veto. Cut-ins of audience listening.
