MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: England Win Second Test Match. DESCRIPTION: When play started on the third day of the Second Test Alan Melville was within four of his fourth consecutive Test century. He scored a boundary off Bedser which did the trick. The victory, however, was England’s with Hutton making the winning hit. SHOTLIST: KS GV play and ground. GV of ground and South Africa batting. SV CU Melville batting (chewing gum). SV CU waiting for ball, hits ball to boundary, his fourth consecutive century. GV of play. LS Tuckett batting to Wright who clean bowls him. Tuckett starts to walk off. Scoreboard. LS Teams lined up on pitch, Royal Family walk onto same. MS King and Queen talking (silent) to Bill Edrich, back shot of Edrich while Queen is talking to him. King talks to Denis Compton. Norman Yardley accompanies the King. MS Queen in pavilion drinking tea. SCU Nourse batting. Scoreboard at 120. GV of play, shows Edrich bowling Nourse with his first ball (first of the day). Nourse starts to walk off. SCU Mitchell batting and reaching his 50, acknowledging crowds. Back view of Evans saving ball from Edrich. GV Yardley catching ball after same had hit Pope - Harris out. SCU Wright bowling includes his run up. Mann bowled by Wright. England walks off at end of innings. Crowd shots. LS Cyril Washbrook and Hutton batting. Len Hutton hitting three to make the necessary runs to beat South Africa.
