MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Rhodesia’s Royal Visitors. DESCRIPTION: The Royal Tour of Rhodesia included a visit to the grave of Cecil Rhodes and a look at the Victoria Falls. The Royal Party also crossed the Zambesi River to visit the British Protectorate of Barotseland. SHOTLIST: KS Looking down side of hill as Royal Family tramp up side. Several shots of them making their way to the grave of Cecil Rhodes, cut-ins of the grave, the Royal Family standing around same, Princess Elizabeth stands in her stockinged feet. GV of countryside as seen from summit of hill. King in civilian clothes. At Victoria Falls, GV Royal Family looking over bridge at Falls. Various shots of Falls from several angles, with the Royal Family looking at same. Signpost reading Danger Do not pass this sign. CU water going over Falls. Royal Family walk through group of trees and surrounding foliage. On Zambesi River, Imwiko Lewenika, Paramount Chief starts the drums on his state barge. Shot of his escort on barge. LS Royal barge going along river into camera. GV of Royal barge. The Paramount’s escort barge passes along river, the leader of the escort barge makes peculiar cries. Paramount Chief seated in his barge, with cut-ins of escort barges escorting. SCU Paramount Chief seated in barge. The Paramount Chief’s barge which is recognised by stripes, pulls towards quay, Paramount Chief alights, followed by his musicians. Standing before the King he bows to the ground and throws some earth towards the King. MS King in uniform and Queen seated on dais. Paramount Chief walks towards same. GV King presenting medal to Paramount Chief also what appears to be a photograph.
