Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Georgia Governorship Dispute. DESCRIPTION: The fight over the Governorship of Georgia in America became very heated. Herman Talmadge had been appointed on the death of his father, but the out going Governor thought that Melvyn Thompson should get the post. SHOTLIST: GV Georgia Capital building. SCU Herman Talmadge. CU Ellis Arnall seated in his office. Talmadge in Governor’s office with State troopers. CU Talmadge seated in office makes speech, saying why he should be Governor. Arnall walks across road to his office, interior shots show that Talmadge has occupied same. Group shots of what appears to be people arguing. Arnall seated in another office. CU of him making speech starts I’m afraid of no man etc. etc. Talmadge followers during night take over Arnall’s improvised office, Arnall argues with opponents. Thompson being sworn in as Governor. Elevated shot of Arnall signing document. Talmadge and Thompson shaking hands over desk, they decide that they will fight it out in High Court.
