- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Swiss Alpine Rescue. DESCRIPTION: A daring rescue took place when a Dakota aircraft went down in the Bernese Oberland. Swiss mountaineers climbed to rescue the passengers who spent four days trying to keep warm in sub-zero temperatures. SHOTLIST: KS Aerial shots of Alps. Several aerial shots of Swiss Alps, around Bernese Oberland. Snow capped mountains etc. Aerial of Dakota almost buried in snow lying wrecked near glacier. Ground shots including long shots of mountaineers rescue party on their way to the survivors, walking out of camera hauling toboggans etc. crossing crevasses. Aerial shots of snow capped mountains. Rescue party make their way down with rescued, some of them stretcher cases. SCU of stretcher cases and shots of others. Aerial shots of Fieseler Storch plane, shows wings, props in fore of picture, mountains below. Survivors being helped into plane. At Unterbach, near Meiringen (aerodrome) radio car. GV of same. Small crowds gathered waiting. Aerial shot of surrounding country and snow capped mountains, Storch taxies across aerodrome. Relatives etc. embrace one another. Brigadier General Ralph Snavely greets his wife. Brigadier Haynes, Mrs and Miss Alice McMahon, and Radio Operator Hill. Captain Tate (pilot of wrecked Dakota) is kissed by his father. GV of the reunion, crowds round one of the Storch planes. Shot of stretcher case being carried off.
