- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: America’s Wimbledon. DESCRIPTION: It was an all-American duel for the Ladies Title at Wimbledon with Pauline Betz defeating Louise Brough to become champion. Tom Brown and Jack Kramer took the Mens’ Doubles Title and Louise Brough and Margaret Osborne the Ladies. SHOTLIST: Elevated pan of crowd to Pauline Betz and Louise Brough coming out onto court. CU Betz and Brough. Each walk to alternate ends of court. Betz serving, elevated, Brough receiving. SCU Brough serving and Betz receiving. GV Royal Box, Queen Mary, Lord and Lady Louis Mountbatten present, also Mr Attlee. Betz in play for match point, jumps net and embraces Brough, cut-in crowds applauding. GV Betz & Brough being presented to Queen Mary. CU Tom Brown (USA), Jack Kramer (USA), Geoff Brown and Dinny Pails (Australia). Elevated Kramer serving and shots of play. Geoff Brown receiving and being beaten. Tom Brown serving match point. Louise Brough, Margaret Osborne, Pauline Betz and Doris Hart walk onto court, each with a bouquet of flowers. Brough serving and Betz receiving, Hart knocks ball into net and hits herself on head with racket, chides. Various shots of play, with fine rally at end, four walk to net to shake hands to finish.
