Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: England V Indian Xi - Test Match. DESCRIPTION: Lord’s was packed for the opening of the Test Match between England and India. The Nawab of Pataudi won the toss and his team batted first but were all out for 200. Hardstaff was England’s hero scoring 205 not out. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS Group shot both teams mixed. People queuing outside Lord’s. Crowd shot of thousands in stands. Nawab of Pataudi and Wally Hammond walk into camera, toss coin, board on barrow indicating that India won toss. LS wide angle of general play. CU Alec Bedser bowling. MS Nawab batting and Ikin catching ball off his bat. Cut-in woman knitting and crowd shot. MS Modi batting and making runs. Cut-in of cat seated on grass and walking across same. Scoreboard India 200 all out. Several shots of Armanath bowling. Hammond batting, cut-ins of Indians fielding, gathering up ball and throwing same back to wicket-keeper. J Hardstaff batting and knocking his 200, acknowledging crowd, cut-ins crowds applauding, also another lying on ground fast asleep. Scoreboard England 428 all out. Outside Lord’s, King arrives, alights from car, with Hon. Gerald Lascelles. Teams lined up on pitch, King walks on and is introduced to them by their captains, introductions taken from various angles.
