- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Review of the Year - Ve, VJ and Atom Bomb. DESCRIPTION: A look back at the year of 1945 to the celebrations of VE and VJ Days, the conferences at Potsdam and the horror of the A-Bomb. The death of President Roosevelt before the final Victory and the landslide victory of Mr Attlee’s Labour Party. SHOTLIST: KS CU bells ringing. Troops marching along road, St Paul’s Cathedral in background, ruins all around. GV troops marching. GV ATS marching, CU feet marching. Interior shot Churchill speaks over the air announcing end of war in Europe. Crowds in Piccadilly Circus, along The Mall, also crowds outside Buckingham Palace. Aerial shot crowds outside Palace. Crowd shots and crowds through Palace railings. King, Queen, Princess Elizabeth, Princess Margaret and Churchill, MS and LS of group on balcony. Night shots crowds dancing, bonfires burning fade to Capitol, Washington. Roosevelt in jeep. CU Roosevelt. Roosevelt’s funeral cortege passes. CU Truman weeping. At Hyde Park, Roosevelt buried and salute fired. At Potsdam, Truman. Churchill and Stalin, link hands. MS Attlee outside Transport House after winning General Election. British troops trekking in Burma, wade across streams etc. Landing on beaches against withering fire, flame throwing tanks in action. Atom bomb bursts like mushroom over Nagasaki, aerial of explosion. Ruins of city, razed to ground, Jap walks through same with umbrella up. Aboard USS "Missouri", MacArthur SV & CU announces terms of peace, Jap emissaries aboard ship. MacArthur signs terms, handing pens to Percival and Wainwright. VJ Day - crowds in Piccadilly, up lamp posts. St Paul’s floodlit, also Houses of Parliament, as seen from the river. Tracking shot along Oxford Street at night. Outside Palace, Royal Family appear on balcony. At Nuremberg Hess pleads "not guilty" by saying "nein", fade to Armistice Day at Cenotaph, same mixes as used in 46207 (war scenes in 1914-18 and 1939-45 wars).
