Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: British American Fleet in Jap Waters. DESCRIPTION: The Anglo-American Fleet steam towards Sagami Bay, Japan led by the "Missouri" on which the Japanese surrender was to be signed. A Japanese pilot brings information and charts about minefields etc. onboard the ‘Duke of York’. When the fleet anchors in Tokyo Bay and landing party goes to Yokohama where ex-prisoners of war are waiting on the jetty. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS fleet. Scenes of fleet off coast of Japan, steaming towards Sagami Bay. GS of USS ‘Missouri’. Admiral Halsey comes aboard HMS ‘Duke of York’ by breeches-buoy. Received by Admiral Sir Bruce Fraser. CU Admiral Halsey. Mass formations of planes fly over fleet. Shot of angry sky. Japanese pilot comes aboard HMS ‘Duke of York’ by breeches-buoy and is searched. GS USS ‘Iowa’, USS ‘Missouri’ and HMS ‘Duke of York’, and cruisers and destroyers steaming along. GS Ensigns flying from mast. CU Air Vice Marshal Issitt. Anchor chain down in Tokyo Bay. Officers look through binoculars. Yokohama "Come After Us" written on wall of mill by allied prisoners. Prisoners of war on jetty. Pan prisoner’s quarters - interiors. Dirty and dull. Prisoners taken onto landing craft. Shot of one man dancing. Pan of fleet at anchor with Mount Fujiyama in background. Also in cut story is shot of fleet taken across bows of HMS ‘Duke of York’.
