Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Dieppe Anniversary. DESCRIPTION: The third anniversary of the Dieppe Raid has been marked by solemn ceremonies in the town. German newsreel footage shows how many fell in the raid and those taken prisoners were led away in chains. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS Cliffs of Dieppe. Shots of beaches, various shots. Memorial services, tributes etc. to dead, shots of crosses on graves, plaque unveiled by Mayor of Dieppe. British Officer also present, wreaths laid on same. CU Plaque. GERMAN NEWSREEL: British landing craft wrecked and grounded on the beaches, dead British soldiers washed up with the tide, also lying dead on beaches. Wrecked Churchill tanks scatted about beaches, also in the sea. British prisoners taken over the beaches, marched through the streets of Dieppe, some wounded being carried by their comrades. Diagrams showing hundreds of aircraft, naval craft, etc. being thrown at Dieppe by the British. Formations of German bombers. CU one flying into camera. German naval craft speeding through water, all flying the Swastika fade to Canadian troops marching through streets of Dieppe, various shots.
