MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Food Prospects - Country’s Harvest. DESCRIPTION: Britain’s grain harvest has once again been bountiful and helpers of all kinds have been coming forward to bring the harvest home. Help is needed too in picking fruit, in past years abundant crops of plums, pears and apples have gone to waste for lack of labour. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS GV of wheatfield. Various of wheat being ploughed, etc. Italian prisoners using scythe, various shots of Italians threshing barley. Land Army girls threshing. Germans pulling flax. Various shots of plums being gathered by boys and girls (children). Baskets of plums being stacked. German prisoners hoeing, also Italians hoeing the root crop. Various shots of harvesting, also automatic potato digger at work. Land Army girls and schoolboys follow behind gathering potatoes and placing same in sacks.
