- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Grand Slam - Ten-Ton Bomb. DESCRIPTION: The RAF’s 22,000lb bomb is 25 feet long and perfectly stream-lined to give it maximum penetration power. The first time the ten tonners were used was on 14th March against the viaduct at Bielefeld. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV of 22,000lb. bomb without tail. GV Tail unit fitted. Various shots of bomb. Special crane lifts bomb onto trailer. GV of trailer carrying same to Lancaster, bombing-up. Lancaster takes off, & out of camera. Over-camera shot of 22,000lb. bomb in bomb bay of plane in flight, also CU of same. Aerial shot of Lancaster, 10 ton bomb drops, aerial shot of target below, with many craters scattered around same. The target Arnsberg Viaduct, bomb falls through space. Explosions, several. Low-flying shot of Arnsberg Viaduct smashed, with dotted line showing where viaduct used to be. Aerial shot of Lancasters in formation. Ground shot of Bielefeld Viaduct, shows huge craters, 120ft. x 35ft. deep panning to wrecked viaduct, various angle shots, including LS, showing many craters. CU of wrecked railway tracks across viaduct. GV of Bielefeld Viaduct in ruins.
