MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: London Welcomes Newest Citizen Eisenhower Receives Freedom of the City. DESCRIPTION: The Allied Commander, General Eisenhower, is given the Freedom of the City of London. Mr and Mrs Churchill greeted him on his arrival at the Guildhall for the ceremony. From the Guildhall General Eisenhower went to the Mansion House and from there he spoke to the gathered crowd. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Eisenhower arrives in Shaef car at Temple Bar accompanied by ACM Tedder. Alight from car and get into open carriage drawn by horses. Drives through cheering crowds, various shots of his arrival at Guildhall. Guard of Honour. Tilt up to Stars & Stripes flying over Guildhall. Eisenhower alights outside to find Mr & Mrs Churchill already waiting there to greet him. Lord Mayor of London shakes hands with Eisenhower. Interior shots, Eisenhower walks to place. Lord Mayor presents him with Sword, used by Duke of Wellington. Makes short speech (53ft). Leaving the Guildhall still interior shots. Driving through more cheering crowds, still accompanied by Tedder. Arrival at Mansion House, various angle shots. Eisenhower on balcony, cut-ins of cheering crowds. Eisenhower speaks "You might not know it but I am now a Londoner like yourselves ..." (246ft). Cut-ins crowds cheering. CU SV Eisenhower. CU SV Churchill without hat - very good. Churchill addresses people "You have just seen and listened to a great Commander..." (60ft). Finishing on cheering crowds.
