- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Germany’s Industrial Ruins. DESCRIPTION: RAF films show the damage that Allied bombing has done to such places as Hanover, Duisburg etc. The Krupps armament factory at Essen now lies in ruins. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Aerial views: - Damage to Hanover, ruined factories, etc. Pans of same. In the Ruhr, Duisburg, on the Rhine, ruins of Thyssen Steelworks, shells of buildings. At Hamborn, synthetic oil plants wrecked, pans of ruins. Includes the Sterfrader Synthetic Oil Plant. Duisburg Dock area, shows tugs and barges high and dry, also many sunk, ruins, etc. Ems/Weser Canal, pan of huge craters, hundreds of them. At Essen, Krupps factories in ruins. On the ground, Americans inspect ruins, various shots of same. GV of Alfred Krupps plinth, with statue knocked off & lying on ground. Yanks stands on same.
