Summary
[1ST SUBTITLE]: "At Westminster Hall, an endless stream of mourners pass in silent homage to the Nation’s honoured dead." A large crowd outside Westminster Hall, with a long queue of people going in and crowds generally. [2ND SUBTITLE]: ‘Let us now praise famous men’ - At St Paul’s Cathedral, the people’s sorrow found expression in the deeply affecting In Memoriam service". A black carriage and car arrive outside the steps of St Paul’s. Close shot of the Lord Mayor of London and others getting out. Another car arrives with the Prince of Wales, who ascends the steps accompanied (and obscured) by another man. People filing into St Paul’s on either side of the steps (an unmaned newsreel camera stands in the centre). Union Jack at half mast. High angle view of large crowds coming down the steps of St paul’s after the ceremony. [3RD SUBTITLE]: "The Last Journey". Long shot of coffins being carried out of Westminster Hall and placed on low carts pulled down by teams of horses. The procession moves away slowly, watched by large crowds. The procession passes down Whitehall and past the Cenotaph. [4TH SUBTITLE]: "Home!" Train arriving at Cardington station. Troops in formation in tree-lined street. Coffins are carried from the train to a line of waiting vans. View of soldiers marching through pressing crowds followed by procession of vans. Men carrying wreaths with a single man pointed out by the camera (presumably one of the survivors). Rear view of one van with a floral tribute in the shape of the R101. The procession continues. The coffins are carried into the cemetary. Airship hangers are seen in the distance with mourners in the foreground. Procession through the cemetary. Long shot through trees with trumpeters playing, crowds in the distance and hangars behind them. Closer shot of trumpeters. [5TH SUBTITLE]: "At the going down of the sun and in the morning We shall remember them".
