MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Brest Surrenders - U-Pens Bombed. DESCRIPTION: The last attack on the submarine pens at Brest scored a number of direct hits with twelve thousand pounders as photographic evidence confirmed. Brest itself suffered very heavy attacks the end result being the surrender of 35,000 Germans. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Aerial shot of Lancasters & Halifaxes on way to bomb Brest. Aerial shots of Brest Harbour, shows explosions on U-Boat pens, by 12,000lb. bombs. GS of harbour. Pan of U-Boat pens, exterior & interior damaged, holes through roof of pens. Aerial shot of coast of Brest, shows lighthouse & coastal guns. Aerial shot of city of Brest, majority of house still standing, but just hollow shells. German prisoners, all types, walk along country road past Yanks, in & out of camera, never ending line.
