Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: On the Western Front Consolidating in Caen. DESCRIPTION: General Eisenhower has visited the battle area to see the progress for himself. There was mopping up of resistance to be done after the captured Caen. The town itself had been badly damaged in the fighting. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS Mustang on aerodrome, Eisenhower gets out. Eisenhower by plane, various shots. Americans in streets. AFU - Dawn shots of infantry advancing (silhouettes), also POW coming in with hands above heads. Dawn breaks, tanks along roads, in background. Sun just rising. German Officer captured from slit trench, another runs over field after capture. Churchill tanks, over craters etc, on outskirts of Caen. British troops enter Caen, few civvies wave etc. Shots of smouldering ruins. Chateau (used as Hospital) intact, pan to right. Cathedral in view. Troops mingle with civvies. Signpost in centre of rubble.
