Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Home From Captivity. DESCRIPTION: Over six hundred servicemen and a score of civilians who have been released from German prison camps arrive at Liverpool. The people of Liverpool turned out in force to give them a great welcome. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GS of POW on rail of ship. GS of crowds mostly nurses lining quay. Pan along ship, crowded with repatriated prisoners. Various shots of troops disembarking, some with crutches, some carried on stretchers. CU patients as stretchers pass camera. Crowds on quay, shots of Red Cross ambulances leaving docks. Shot of soldiers on railway platform, boarding trains, nurses serve them with beverages etc. fade to hospital grounds group march through to sound of bagpipes, (actual sound). Soldier receives £6 on account. Pan to group singing "Roll out the Barrel", J Cotter speaking to troops, couple tell of their experiences (Cameramen did not take their names), one of them makes a joke about Hitler. Another soldier fit enough to go home, greeted by his fiancée & sister, kiss & embrace etc. CU Corporal Luck telling his experiences in Germany.
