Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Far East War (RAFFU Copyright). DESCRIPTION: The Japanese have come under sustained attack from American Forces such as those which struck on bases in the Marianas. In Burma supplies are being packed up for a parachute drop to the 7th Indian Division which has been cut off by the Japanese. On the Arakan front the Japanese have been encircled and many prisoners taken. SHOTLIST: Cut story - LS of battleship firing guns and Jap planes fly through flak, one leaves trail of smoke, another flies over camera, tracers fired at same, plane hit and crashes into sea, aircraft carrier flight deck in fore. Fade out and in to Marauders in formation, aerial shot of Saidor in New Guinea, bombs explode on island (very good explosions). GV of island envelope in dense smoke. Fade out and into Burma Front. RAFFU - Colonial troops packing foods, etc, folding parachutes - various shots. Shots of transport plane taking off (Douglas DC3?) Stinson plane flies over rocky & hilly country. Interior shot of plane packed with supplies. Shots of supplies floating to earth. On the Arakan Front, Jap prisoners led through jungle and over streams by British and Indian patrols. CU Types of Jap POW passing camera. Various shots of Sherman tanks passing road on outskirts of jungle. Shots of British and Indian troops firing rifles from lying positions, also stationary tanks firing their guns. Bren-gunner fires, the above take cover from the rocky country.
