MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Salute the Soldier. DESCRIPTION: In Trafalgar Square, Field Marshal Sir Alan Brooke opened "Salute the Soldier" Week. The event is to raise money for War Savings. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. CU civilian with hat raised, Army despatch riders passing in procession, in background. Elevated shot of Trafalgar Square with crowds. MS & CU of Field Marshal Sir Alan Brooke making speech. GV of British troops in procession, approach St Paul’s Cathedral, where the Lord Mayor is taking salute. Troops pass St Clement’s Danes Church. Royal Marine band & RMs into camera, followed by Wrens, Merchant Navy, cut-in crowds lining streets. Guards band followed by Guards. Marching up Fleet Street, Ludgate Hill in background. Sailors march past Buckingham Palace where King takes salute, also on stand in Queen & Princess Elizabeth. Soldiers marchpast palace, 5.5 artillery, followed by "Duck" [sic], followed by Churchill tanks.
